Our First Trip to the Oregon Coast

Our trips starts at Camp 18.  We were a bit late for breakfast, but we toured the grounds and found all sorts of neat machinery and trains for logging.  Amazing and large!

Then we were off to Seaside Beach!  Delicious sandwiches and we learned about Tsunami's.  They haven't had one for 100 years that caused any damage, but signs are everywhere about the risk. 

Adeline loved the water. Esther was more into the sand.  It was cold! Water temp today was 58!
There was a discovery area on the beach and we learned all about sand dollars, sand and magnetite in the sand by dragging around magnets!

 

This is Haystack Rock at Cannon beach!  Very big.  At low tide you can walk out there… don't get traped at high-tide though.  This was a brighter and warmer feeling beach.  Less magnetite I think making the sand no so black! 

 

 

 

Here we are off of 101 with one of the many look-outs!  Wonderous sights.  How amazing is our God!

 

This was in the Tillamook area.  Where we got cheese samples and ate some
ice-cream from the Tillamook dairy.

Loved the winding roads through the mountains, the tunnels… a lot of fun!  Can't believe this is all a little over an hour away! The sun didn't come out until mid afternoon.  I don't know if that is normal or not, but the temperatures seem to be a bit lower today overall everywhere.

Tualatin Park in Beaverton

This was probably our first outing in Oregon without Bryan.  I wanted to go to this park.  Keely was so helpful to help me get our THPRD (Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation Department) membership.  THis is a nature park with a nature center and lots of classes (which are all full).

This is in Oregon.  Beaverton/Portland in our appartment. We are with a new friend - Ryan whose dad also just started working at Nike with Bryan.  His name is Dan, Wife Jen and she has a sister Kira.
We love them already.  We shared pizza and cake at the pool on Essie's birthday.

 

 

Above is in Newberry where you and Adeline shared a cake!  A super fun night of Sardines followed.  Meme and Papa, Annie and Chad and Henry are great at that game.

Below you celebrated in Ft.Myers with Sassy and Grandpa and Andy.  Nothing like going shopping!

Esther, you are a gift from God right to us.  We read Psalm 139 the morning of your birthday. You are wonderfully made.  God has great plans for you.  Keep growing in your knowledge and understanding.  We had so much fun with you being four. You played piano in front of our church and your school.  You are so brave.  You are so smart you are well on your way to reading and can read many words now.  You love laughing and add so much laughter to our family.  You learned to ride your bike this summer without training wheels.  You are sensitive about spiritual things.  You are a compassionate friend.  You are a great and generous sister. You love your family well.
