Come have FUN with the Conrads!!!

We lean on Jesus as He is our strength for everyday.
1 Peter 4:11 Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Safety First!

So, how important is your nose?  your eyes?  We protect them all!

This is what was going on before the teaching video from Tuesday.  Then I got brave and let her try.  And she surprised me with how good she listened and her motor control!!!  Go Adeline Go!!!

Measuring UP

Esther had her 1yr appointment this week and boy oh boy is she a cutie.  And just for documentation thought I would share she was:

25lb 6oz – 95%

31.5 inches in length – 97%

18.5 inches for head circumference – 90%.

I would hate to think I am being a bad parent and already comparing them, but it isn’t like that.

So Adeline at 1 yr:

23lbs 4 oz –80%

29.75 inches in length – 75%

18.25 inches for head circumference –80%

It is so much fun to see the grow physically and in their personality.

So anyone up for a test?

Praise God that He knows us so very well:

Luke 12:7  "Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.”

So valuable to God and to us!  Thank you God for such blessings – so many miracles in each minute of each day.  We are trying to enjoy every breath to its fullest!

Teaching Tuesday: Building

What fun to build with Adeline.  She had so much fun making her helicopter.  And I think the ability to complete the task also built up her confidence.  Note:  Character under construction.  Thanks to God for allowing the moments to take place so positively and thanks to Lowes for supporting the hardware for the project…such fun!

Birthday: at home

Essie had a little mini party with the 4 of us.  It was fun in a simple way.  We let Esther have applesauce.  She got to eat it anyway she wanted.  Of course that means half of it minimally landed in her lap.  She thoroughly enjoyed the other half.

Adeline made her a hat:

Birthday fun for Essie at the River

IMG_9882

Though many say Esther and Adeline look so much alike, it is evident they are already their own people.  Adeline wouldn’t touch her birthday cupcake and Essie enjoyed every morsel of hers.

Essie, we love you a ton!!!

Essie takes the cake!  Happy Birthday Baby!!!

Esther, you are amazing!  You have swept us off our feet with your beauty on the inside and out.  Just this past weekend you turned the corner from crawling primarily to walking primarily.  You know mama, dada, papa, doggie!  You sign only doggie, but know when we start talking about milk.  Though you know to do High-5 too, that is a pop culture sign I guess!  You learned this with Mr. Ray at Westside that loves babies so very well.  You are a climber.  You love going behind the couch and playing peek a poo from the fireplace hearth.  You love crawling onto Adeline’s office table, the couches, the stool in the bathroom, anything really.  You have had a weird medical year by starting out with a broken collar bone, then fungus between the fingers, to scratching your eye with a spoon.  You have had some reactive airway disease, ear infections and another scratched eye too.  We will try to keep you out of that office if we can.  Though as active as you are I have a feeling you will keep us there.  We do feel like family there!  You love Calhoun and Millie.  You love when they run by you.  You will eat just about anything.  You have been doing great drinking water from a sippy, but aren’t too sure about milk and recently don’t like drinking milk from a bottle either.  I am in a pickle over this.  You have a smile that lights up a room.  On Monday we went to a music class.  You toddled around the room shaking the egg shakers, smiling from ear to ear engaging everyone around the room.  You sleep from 7am to approx 6:30. You recently went to one nap a day.  Our dear friend Katie and her son Luke 2 mo younger than you kept you for almost 4 weeks so you could get some extra wink eye.  You had him on your heals and might have even helped spur him on to crawling.  Other than your stay with that dear sweet family you have been at Sonshine Day Care and Preschool with Adeline.  You LOVE your sister (and she you).  You guys hold hands in the car seats, pass toys and share food back and forth.  You will be held by just about anyone, at least for a minute or 2.  When something plays music you like to get your groove on.  When we play a certain couple songs in the car you “clap, clap, clap your hands” with the song.  It is a super sweet clap.  I hope to capture that soon.  You babble a ton and got the award of “most talkative” from your teachers Ms. Gwen and Ms. Nancy.  You love being in the water.  You hardly even flinch when water goes down your face.  You love bath time.  You are doing great with solid foods, and even now primarily eat finger foods rather than mush.  You love to take things out and put them in. You flip through books, though can be less than patient when they are being read to you to wait to flip the page. Everything goes in your mouth (normal for this age right)…even dirt, mouth full's of sand, dog food and even some dog poo (don’t know how you got that, but it was something stinky).   I know for sure you do not like diaper changes.  It takes the skill of distraction to get you through one without flipping over and moving away.  You love wagon rides, and until recently when you punctured the ice-pop were quite fine to just crunch on an unopened one while we walked.  You love swinging too!

We love you so so so much and savor every day.  Yet look forward to knowing your sweet personality more and more.  We pray you know Jesus in a personal way very early in life.  We try to reflect His love to you.  We pray every night over you and are so thankful God is letting us have you here on earth with us.  He has trusted us to do a lot.  We pray He fill in the daily gaps that need filling.  We want you to Love Him with your whole heart, to love His word and write it on your heart, to have wisdom from Him alone!  He has purpose for your dear life.  Already you have accomplished much – you have taught us about joy and love!

Zephaniah 3:17

The LORD your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.

Teaching Tuesday: Phone

We are girls… Just to clarify Adeline now understands fully that a phone can be a camera too!  And Esther gives a shouted “ugh” when she puts the phone to her ear.  I just couldn’t seem to get her to do it when I had the video on her:

Splash Park fun!!!

We skipped school and work and met some Mommies for some fun in the sun and water… and a few in the sand.

And I took the liberty to celebrate Esther’s birthday with a few of her friends!!!  Cupcakes and some “drum stick pretzels.

Puzzled?

I am reminded that our Lord holds all things together.  Praise God!

And Adeline and Esther are playing with puzzles.  Amazed at that shape knowledge.  She even knows a parallelogram and an octagon.

Who would have thought so many precious moments could come from a diaper box!

We have to take every chance we get to have her in our laps, some day she will think she is too big to sit with us!  Such a movie star swimmer. She has been taking swimming lessons.  She is blowing bubbles, going under, kicking, floating on her back, blinking to get the water out of her eyes.  So big!!!

Simply darling!!!!

I have turned our house into a soon to be 3yrs old art gallery.  And I love it!!!  She was thrilled to see her art on the wall too.

Cutie in flour!

So we only semi frustrate our children. We did this with Adeline and I thought it only fitting that Essie gets to try it as well.  I read somewhere that around 10months of age babies really enjoy discovering new textures.  It suggested letting them play with flour.  We made the mistake of adding water to Adelines and it was a pasty mess.  With Esther is was very easy to clean up.

Who made this video?

I thought I would post 2 videos.  See if you can tell who did which one.

OR

Okay so it was a little obvious!  But Adeline’s skills are way ahead of Bryans.  Maybe he had a low blood sugar.  Love you dear :)

And yes!  Esther is climbing, something we were blessed by Adeline not doing.  I am sure this will exponentially increase the number of injuries!

Eye update

We went tonight to have a recheck and they didn’t even touch her.  They said if she was so happy to leave the bandage in place and see The Kids Health Team tomorrow.  Well don’t you know the bandage came off on the way home.  Though her eye is still covered.  There were 4 layers and now there are 2.  As I post she is fast asleep without any work to it.  Though she is partially drugged by some Motrin :)

Praise God for everything going so well!!!

Teaching Tuesday (on Wed again): Essie feeding her Daddy

As one can see an 11mo old can figure out a lot of things.  One is the importance of keeping the family well fed.  Bryan was half asleep and Esther was shoveling food in.  I guess we have done it to her a time or two.  She is amazing. She put purses on her shoulders, shoes on her feet, bracelets on her arms, brushes her hair and teeth.  She really is watching so much it is hard to believe she is only 11 months old.  If only she would learn the signs we are trying to teach her.  She still only uses the sign for dog.  We are continuing to work with eat and more.

Baby post combat

Esther looks like she has been in a war.  I think she won… only a corneal abrasion.  Unfortunately for her I have to tell you it was from a spoon.  Gosh you just have to keep them in bubble wrap their whole lives… even then that is a suffocation hazard.  No win.  Thank goodness we have God to protect us and them!

IMG_9816

So we are at home in a nice dark environment.  Suppose to go to Peds after hours tonight for a recheck and then Dr. Rosi said to go to an optometrist tomorrow.  We shall see what God has in store.

Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Luke 12:7

So the story goes that the incident happened just as we were all heading out the door.  She fell on the spoon of sorts, and after some tears, watery eyes, and red face she seemed to be mending up.  Bryan took her to school, she fell asleep and he let her nap 40 min (a little/okay a lot unusual) then she was playing and all seemed well minus a reddened eye.  Then after Adeline and I finished swimming lessons (which she did just GREAT) I dropped in on her and Ms. Gwen said she would be rubbing her eye from time to time and then sometimes she would just lay down abruptly and cry as if it all of the sudden hurt her.  She was having a tough time.  While holding her and dropping off Adeline she did one of those episodes and it was obvious she was hurting.  So called The Kids Health team.  I had prior and was waiting a call back.  This time though I just started driving there.  So needless to say I was in their parking lot when they were about to decide to send us to either the ER or see us.  Dr. Rosi wasn’t in until 11 and it was now 10:30.  So we waited in a dark room and she seemed pretty happy.  Whenever the light was on or door opened all the way she was hurting.  After the florescence and dark light it was obvious – a large slit across her iris and either above or through the pupil.  I have already forgotten what it looked like.

She is napping now.  I am sure she is worn out.  I hope she sleeps a lot today. I don’t see her like having her hands in mittens and only one eye to see out with. God will take care of it I am sure.

Coupons: Rules and Lingo

So as previously mentioned I am getting into the coupon world.  Actually hotcouponworld.com to be specific.  I suggest you register and become a free member yourself.  Please mention me. Though I don’t get anything for it… that I know of :)  I am conradsu of course.

If you go to join you will soon be overwhelmed by the lingo.  I suggest going here.  A couple others that I don’t recall being on that link:  Peelie is a sticker on the packaging.  WYB = when you buy (ie:  get $1 off X product WYB milk). I go coocoo for BOGO.  Buy one get one :)  Especially when you have a coupon on top of that.

It may be good to know some general rules.  Click here to see another post on the rules of couponing.  Though I think everyone I know would instinctively know most of these.

Then a recent article in the Gainesville Sun on couponing.  Click here.

This is the blog of the person that posts on the forums at hotcouponworld.com that seem so helpful.  iheartpublix.com  This link, if you click here, is to the coming weeks sales that includes printable coupons.

More to come….

I basically took the week off this week, spent $130 on produce and some essentials that we aren’t willing to buy a different brand one and still managed to save $30.  Not a good week.  But I only clipped 4 coupons when leaving the house.  God bless someone that had taped a few through out the store :)  I ended up using 8 from peelies, cliped and gift coupons.

Tango with Mango

So does anyone have any good techniques or tips to cutting up a mango.  Every time I do it feels like a major struggle to just get just a small amount of golden delicious fruit off the seed.  I feel that half of the fruit is wasted mush squished by my hands in an effort to enjoy this goodness.

Help?!!!

Teaching Tuesday – Watermelon

The joy of eating watermelon.  As long as you keep sharing.

Crime never Pays

And if you don’t know what things are worth you can get all the wrong stuff!

Last night someone decided to go through both of our vehicles.  I noticed that my driver door was ajar this morning when walking the dog.  It was then that I noticed that my glove box and center console had exploded into the seats.  Though I didn’t notice anything missing.  Bryan quickly came to investigate and noticed that his too had exploded.  Bryan was missing an old Palm Pilot and a beloved harmonica.

I was so thankful that my expensive Stroller was still in the car.  It was the first thing I checked to make sure was there.  And too they didn’t get the DVD player in the back seat.  It is probably what Adeline would have checked for first if she had known was going on.

Then when we drove up at the end of the day we found Jordan in our driveway wanting an interview.  So we gave her one:

saved $82 today

So I do believe I am at least on my way to being officially a coupon person. I clipped last when I was in college and haven't touched them since seriously. Even then I would carry them around and forget to use them or leave them at home when I really needed them. Having children and using www.e-mealz.com (a membership that gives you a menu, shopping list and recipes based on the sale items recommended by Dave Ramsey) has definitely helped get me more organized in only going to the grocery store once every 7-10 days. Unlike those carefree days of running to the store every other day practically for one item or another. So glad that is over.

Last week I saved $59.36 ($12 were vendor savings and $1 store coupon... others were the sale paper type savings). Then today I saved $82.55 ($30.39 in vendor and $8 in store coupons).

Just b/c I am sooo excited I have to share my most memorable savings: I bought one 12pk of coke and got 4 free; and bought one mac n cheese and got 3 free; 2 A1 sauces for $1.

I am putting together a post or two on how I am doing it... but thought I might try to gain a bit more experience. Both weeks I spent approx the same amount. And to top it off I don't get the newspaper. Imagin the savings if I had that....so Yippee!!!
